Colossal Cargo: The Secret Behind a Green Revolution’s Safe Journey

Uncategorised

In an impressive display of engineering prowess, India’s Express Global Logistics (EXG) has undertaken a monumental task—transporting enormous industrial modules to Saudi Arabia for a groundbreaking green hydrogen initiative. These modules are not just any cargo; each weighs a staggering 250 tonnes and plays a vital role in the project’s success.

The logistics of moving these giants were no small feat. EXG was tasked with transporting 14 colossal structures, measuring 50 meters in length, 12 meters in width, and 18 meters in height, with a combined weight of around 1,500 tonnes. Fortunately, EXG had access to cutting-edge technology. Their advanced fleet of Scheuerle self-propelled modular transporters, featuring 48 axle lines and two high-performing engines, was crucial. Custom-engineered spacers were also utilized to distribute the immense weight evenly.

For eight of these modules, EXG implemented a sophisticated roll-on roll-off strategy. This involved meticulously engineered ramps to ensure smooth boarding onto seafaring vessels. The other six modules were transshipped on self-propelled modular transporters to a jetty, where they were then precisely lifted by powerlifting crawler cranes.

EXG’s team navigated the intricate logistics with exceptional expertise. Ensuring the stability of shipping vessels through meticulous ballasting was a cornerstone of this complex operation’s success. This intricate task hints at the high-level engineering skills that EXG employed.

As EXG continues to expand, their collaboration with Italy’s Fagioli in a joint venture named Megaload, launched in January 2023, promises to push boundaries further in sectors like petrochemical and construction, focusing on innovative lifting solutions.
